Setting up your Digital Picture Frame

With the ongoing popularity of digital photography, people have similarly begun to opt out of the dated ways to view photographs. While it is still common for living rooms to have a gigantic photo album or two atop the center table, people have slowly started using a device called the digital picture frame. At the onset, this provides distinct advantages. The pictures, for one, are crisper and thus better appreciated. It also allows you to directly have your photos ready and up for viewing almost instantly after taking them. And while a digital picture frame will significantly cost you more than a traditional picture frame, the cost of printing will eventually make up for this difference.

Getting started

As with any technological device, getting acquainted with the digital picture frame may seem to be a daunting task. In the same manner, too, it's just getting used to. This device, however, requires very little tweaking, and someone from 9 to 90 can get accustomed to it in no time at all.

Depending on your model, usually you just need to take the memory card out of your digital camera and insert it in its allotted slot. You'll notice that the pictures in your files will automatically begin to play in a slideshow.

On the other hand, with the really small photo frames, usually lugged around in key chains and lanyards, you can't transfer files just as easily. These models usually come with a USB cord to do that, but you will need to plug it in a computer. All in all, though, if you have experience transferring files this way, this shouldn't really be a problem.

A little tweaking

After inserting the memory card, you can begin tweaking with your digital frame's settings. Usually, the operational buttons to do so are found on the side of the gadget. These settings include the speed of the slideshow, the appearance of the photos, the transition effects, and similar features. Again depending on your model, you can also play videos and music on your photo frame. As these settings become more complicated, most models come equipped with a remote to make navigation easier and more convenient.

Show it off

Now as it is advertised as a better equivalent to the traditional bulky picture frames, you have option of either going around with your photo frame or display it in some prominent spot in your house. The small ones have batteries, while the big ones meant for display have adaptors to plug in the nearest power source. These things have started to become known to occupy places in the living room, kitchen, dining room, or even the office.

Setting this up shouldn't be cumbersome. Just pick a spot, and take care of the wiring so that they don't obstruct the view. Common places for traditional photo albums also work for the digital photo frame, such as bookshelves and tables. Make sure the remote control is in sight to make it accessible for everyone who wants to view the picture slideshow.

All in all, using a digital photo frame need not be geek to you, and, chances are, it won't.
